Taking an 'upstream' approach to conflict prevention

The concept of ‘upstream conflict prevention’ has gained increasing currency in the development, diplomatic and defence communities. But there is still a lack of clarity around what upstream conflict prevention means and how this approach can be put into practice. In this analysis piece Saferworld argues that a better understanding of the elements of this long-term approach is a key step towards more effective conflict prevention.

Civil society endorses post-2015 statement

Over 50 peacebuilding and development organisations have endorsed a joint civil society statement arguing for the inclusion of peacebuilding and violence prevention as key elements of the post-2015 Development Framework.
