Ariana Martini Grant Manager, Funding
Ariana is part of the fundraising team for Saferworld and currently manages Saferworld’s project “Improving the conditions for reconstruction and development in Bangladesh, South Sudan and Yemen”, funded by the Netherlands MFA.
In all three countries, the programme is guided by Saferworld’s community-based approach to security and conflict prevention, or community security. This involves introducing and facilitating co-operative modes of addressing a range of human security and conflict prevention challenges through the joint engagement of community representatives, local authorities, and providers of services relating to security, conflict prevention and the rule of law. Ariana is responsible for the overall coordination of the programme, ensuring effective planning, implementation and reporting.
Ariana joined Saferworld in March 2009 having previously worked for Catholic Charities as a social worker in the homeless sector in Baltimore, US. Ariana holds an MA in Economics and Italian from St Andrew’s University and an MA in International Development from the University of Bath.
