ALCHA is a local NGO active in community capacity building in Moyale constituency of Marsabit County. It was registered in May 2002 as a Community Based Organization to bring together efforts on empowering pastoralist communities in the Moyale and Sololo districts before its elevation to NGO status in February 2012. The organization specialises predominantly in Human Rights and Democratic Governance projects. ALCHA’s activities and strategies in delivering programmatic goals are anchored on Human Rights-Based Approaches (HRBA) and conflict sensitive approaches to development interventions.
ALCHA has won many awards for excellent service delivery to rural marginalized pastoralist communities.
- November 2014: “Best Performing CSO, 1st Runners up in Access to Justice project” award during the 6th Annual Civil Society Week held in Kwale county.
- November 2014: “Jattani Wario: Exemplary service to Civil Society from 2013-2014” award during the 6th Annual Civil Society Week held in Kwale County.
- November 2012: “Best Performing CSO” award during the 4th Annual Civil Society week held in Eldoret County for best implementation of access to justice project.
