Saferworld belongs to the Biting the Bullet Project which brings together government experts, academics and civil society representatives from around the world. We build consensus on controversial issues including transfer controls for small arms and light weapons.
Our work includes the UN Programme of Action, the primary international agreement on small arms controls. We carry out the only global assessment of states' progress towards meeting their Programme commitments.
Our reports in 2003, 2005 and 2006 fed into UN on the Programme.
Read our latest report analysing existing tools to prevent diversion of SALW and reviewing states' progress on implementing key PoA commitments in this area.
