South Sudan Monitor
This newsletter is a monthly resource from the Saferworld office in Juba. It aims to provide regular updates on key developments in South Sudan as it develops as an independent nation.
The March edition explores the on-going challenges of a South Sudan/Sudan relationship under stress, community perceptions of security and civilian disarmament and international arms control. We also discuss a more long-term issue: private investment involving large-scale land use and what this means for conflict-sensitive economic development in South Sudan.

Coordination of key states’ diplomatic responses as well as the AU processes remain crucial. Such coordination greatly contributed to the success of the CPA and needs to continue if the current crises are to be resolved.
