Post 2015, Goal 16 and Lessons on Indicators: Civil Society Perspectives from the New Deal Work on Indicators

Summary

This week Member States, national statistics offices, UN agencies, civil society and other stakeholders will open discussions on the design of the indicator framework for the Sustainable Development Goals. Indicators will underpin the monitoring of the new development framework and will play a key role in guiding policy-makers and allowing other stakeholders to hold them to account. Based on the experience of creating indicators for the New Deal process, this statement from the Civil Society Platform on Statebuilding and Peacebuilding (CSPPS) summarises what lessons can be learned for how we monitor issues of peace, governance and justice in the new development framework.
