20th anniversary

2009 marked the 20th anniversary of Saferworld’s establishment as an organisation committed to conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

The past two decades have witnessed huge political and social change. While we may re-prioritise our strategies and programmes, the principles on which our initial work was planned remain at the heart of who we are today. We would like to thank our supporters, donors and partners for their continuing support and contributions.

Exhibition: Safer communities, Saferworld

Sculpture made from de-commissioned weapons

Saferworld held an exhibition to document our work on conflict prevention and peace building at the Strand Gallery in London from 12-16 October 2010. The event was a great opportunity to raise awareness of our work with the general public as well as to recognise and thank our supporters. The exhibition included photos of communities we support, graphics illustrating the dyanamics of the arms trade and sculptures made from reclaimed weapons.

From our work over the last 20 years:

“I have read with great interest the excellent and most sensible paper on the Gulf crisis which the Saferworld Foundation has produced. This is a timely publication which admirably summarizes the situation in the Gulf.”

Ambassador Henning Wegener, Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, NATO, 1991
