Saferworld, Safer Britain

The British Government is currently undertaking a Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR). Saferworld suggests that helping other societies manage conflict more peacefully will enhance the UK's own long-term security, as well as directly benefitting those who live with the daily reality of armed violence.

At a time when the Government's financial resources are severely constrained, comparatively modest resources spent to support the development of peaceful, stable, and secure societies that are more resilient to the risk of violent conflict may also represent a sound investment over the long term: saving money, lives and political reputation.

Saferworld has produced a short briefing outlining an approach, based on our experience in the Horn of Africa, Asia and Europe, that we believe would help the UK more effectively support lasting and sustainable solutions to conflict, insecurity and instability overseas.
