Working with businesses for peace in Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s economic growth is an international success story. But how can businesses work for peace?

Strong textile exports and investments in energy, telecoms, and in the stock market have brought massive gains to Bangladesh’s economy. But these have been marred by violence, inequality and unrest.

This report explores the potential role of businesses in reducing conflict and building peace in three districts of Bangladesh – Sylhet, Sunamganj and Rajshahi.

We argue that there are many positive roles that businesses can play – from leveraging influence with powerful groups and individuals, to creating economic opportunities.

‘Working with businesses for peace’ recommends how international organisations and individuals can work with businesses in Bangladesh to promote inclusive development and peacebuilding.
