Saferworld's annual review 2016-17

Saferworld believes in a world where everyone can lead peaceful, fulfilling lives, free from fear and insecurity. The prevalence of conflict and violence in so many parts of the world throughout 2016-17 continued to challenge us and the ways we respond to conflict.

Our 2016-17 annual review shares how we’ve applied our distinctive approach this year, combining programming, research and advocacy at global, regional, national and community levels.

With our partners, we have worked to facilitate changes in behaviour and relationships between communities, civil society, national authorities, and international actors in East Africa, Europe and Central Asia, South and South East Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa.

These are intensely challenging times, requiring sustained and dynamic efforts to make the most of new opportunities. From working with youth across Yemen using WhatsApp – to promoting inclusive governance in Somalia and Somaliland – we’re proud to share our collaborative stories of change and impact.
