The United Nation’s 2030 Agenda identified peace as one of five cross-cutting areas of vital importance for humanity and the planet. Sustainable Development Goal 16 – which promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, access to justice for all and effective, accountable and inclusive institutions – is central to focusing attention on peace and conflict. But building truly sustainable peace requires a broader perspective that encompasses all 17 sustainable development goals.

This infographic showcases what we believe to be some of the key targets for peace spanning the entire 2030 Agenda. Together with Goal 16, these targets and indicators make up what is referred to as ‘SDG16+’ and are crucial foundations for building peaceful, just and inclusive societies.
