Youth and peacebuilding in Nepal

Youth (defined in Nepal as people aged 16-40) make up 40% of Nepal’s population, meaning they have an important role to play in the country’s future peace and stability. However conflict at home and in the wider community can affect young people’s development and their approach to peace.

Our Community Initiative for Common Understanding (CICU) project brings together young people from 15 Village Development Committees (VDCs) to work on conflict mitigation, and aims to foster mutual understanding and cooperation between youth and potentially conflicting groups.
