Lawyer Association of Pamir (LAP) is a regional public organisation established in 2005 as an initiative of young and promising lawyers in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. It was registered as a public organisation in 2010.
LAP promotes human rights and fundamental freedoms, and focuses on incorporating international human rights standards into national legislation and law enforcement practices. It assists in carrying out democratic reforms and strengthening the principles of democratisation and tolerance. LAP engages with society through civil society, assists law firms in the region, and protects the public interest. The organisation has worked on access to justice in partnership with the U.S. Embassy, Soros Foundation and the American Bar Association.
