Message of solidarity to our Yemeni partners

Amidst war and instability, the spread of diseases and the increasing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, we send a message of solidarity to our defiant partners in Yemen living and working in challenging conditions.

Civil society and communities in Yemen have endured five years of conflict, insecurity and  uncertainty that continues to unfold each day. What are unimaginable circumstances to many have become a daily reality to those on the front-line, now made worse by the rapid spread of COVID-19 that shows no sign of slowing down.

Recurrent rounds of clashes putting civilians at risk, continuous electricity and internet blackouts, a blockade restricting vital food and medical supplies and recent flash floods are just some of the current challenges in Yemen. We see the impact this is having on our partner staff, their family and friends, and members of communities where we work who are enduring ill health and other personal difficulties.

Yet despite this hardship, Yemeni civil society, activists and volunteers continue to serve the needs of their communities and inspire change, working tirelessly to help the most vulnerable. In the moment when they are needed most, they do not falter.

We commend their courageous spirit and determination to bring peace to Yemen and their unwavering bravery to continue working in these difficult times. We are honoured to continue working with them and thank them for inspiring us with their strength. The Yemeni people are in our thoughts and we proudly stand with them in efforts to bring an end to the conflict.

رسالة تضامن مع شركائنا اليمنيين

في ظل الحرب الراهنة وانعدام الاستقرار وتفشي الأمراض والتهديد المتزايد من وباء فيروس كورونا، نوجه رسالة تضامن مع شركائنا المناضلين في اليمن الذين يعيشون ويعملون في ظروف صعبة للغاية.

عايش المجتمع المدني وعانت المجتمعات كافة في اليمن خمس سنوات من الحرب المدمرة والأمن المنعدم والمستقبل الضبابي المستمر إلى يومنا هذا. تلك الظروف التي لا يمكن أن يتخيلها الكثيرين قد أصبحت واقعا يوميا لأولئك الموجودين على الخط الأمامي، ظروف قد تفاقمت الآن مع التفشي السريع لفيروس كورونا الذي لا يظهر أي علامة تباطؤ.

الاشتباكات المستمرة في مناطق مأهولة بالسكان التي تعرض المدنيين للخطر و الانقطاعات المستمرة للكهرباء والانترنت والقطاع الصحي المدمر من الحرب والحصار المطبق الذي يمنع وصول مواد غذائية وطبية أساسية والفيضانات الأخيرة هي مجرد بعض التحديات الحالية في اليمن. إننا نرى التأثيرات الحاصلة من تلك العوامل على فريق عمل شركائنا وعائلاتهم وأصدقائهم وأفراد المجتمعات حيث نعمل والذين يعانون من حالات صحية ومصاعب شخصية.

لكن رغم تلك الصعوبات فإن المجتمع المدني والناشطين والناشطات والمتطوعين والمتطوعات في اليمن يستمرون في خدمة حاجات مجتمعاتهم، يعملون بجهد لدعم الفئات الأثر ضعفا ويلهمون بأمل التغيير. ففي اللحظة التي تتواجد حاجة ماسة لهم، فإنهم لا يبخلون ولا يتعثرون.

إننا نثني على روحهم الجريئة وعزيمتهم القوية لإرساء السلام في اليمن وشجاعتهم الثابتة لمواصلة العمل رغم الظروف الصعبة. وحقيقة نتشرف بأن نستمر في العمل معهم ونشكرهم على إلهامنا بقوتهم. أفكارنا مع الشعب اليمني ونقف بفخر معهم في جهودهم المبذولة لإنهاء النزاع الدائر.
