Sierra Leone Arms Trade Treaty national assessment report

Sierra Leone has been a strong supporter of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and was one of the founding States Parties when it entered into force on 24 December 2014. This report examines the country's compliance with treaty obligations.

The Sierra Leone National Commission on Small Arms supported by Saferworld has produced this report as an important step on the journey to full ATT compliance - another example of Sierra Leone’s commitment to the treaty. The report was developed with the cooperation and assistance of departments and ministries from across the Sierra Leone government.

This national assessment examines Sierra Leone’s relevant national laws, regulations, structures, policies and practices. It identifies how and where Sierra Leone is and is not currently in compliance with its treaty obligations, and makes a number of recommendations about how best to address its compliance gaps.
