Saferworld in South Sudan

In the context of ongoing war and local conflicts across South Sudan, people continue to experience widespread and persistent violence, worsened by ethnic polarisation, regional fragmentation, proliferation of weapons, youth involvement in armed groups, and cycles of violence based on revenge and cattle raiding.

Saferworld has been working with the people of South Sudan since 2008. With partners, we work in all ten former states with communities, civil society, local authorities and traditional leaders to prevent conflict and build peace. We prioritise working with women, young people and others who are excluded from decisions that affect them.

We bring together communities and authorities to identify and respond to the major challenges they face, and we advocate for their concerns and for better approaches to addressing conflict regionally, nationally and internationally.
