Briefing by Saferworld to the Committee for Civilian Aspects of Crisis Management

On 16th November 2009, Saferworld made recommendations to the EU’s 'Committee for Civilian Aspects of Crisis Management'.

The recommendations look at the conflicts over Abkhazia and South Ossetia; development of a longer-term strategy for the EUMM; increasing strategic engagement by the EUMM with other actors; public dissemination of information; increased effectiveness of the Mission in understanding and meeting the needs of conflict-affected communities.

This briefing is based on Saferworld’s experience in the region and our discussions with representatives from the international, governmental and community representatives.
