A story of partnership: Saferworld and FIQ

In 2005 Saferworld started programming in Kosovo, using a partnership approach that would come not only to define how Saferworld delivers its work but also to represent a core principle for addressing conflict. Ten years on, Saferworld reflects on the achievements and learning from its longest-standing organisational partnership with the Forum for Civic Initiatives, better known as FIQ.

This case study is based on research conducted by Deepti Sastry and Mia Marzouk as part of the Programme Review and Improvement Process, an exercise to help improve specific programmes. It is being published to mark Saferworld's 25th anniversary and to reflect the organisation's core commitment to working in partnership.

“The relationship was always intended to promote and support the long-term sustainability of programming work within the country, with the aim that FIQ take more of a lead role.”
