A new video interview with BRAC highlights partner perspectives in Bangladesh

8 May 2013

Saferworld is partnering with development organisation BRAC on a new community security project which officially launched this week in Dhaka.  In a new video interview Anna Minj, Director of Community Empowerment and Integrated Development for BRAC talks about BRAC’s aspirations for the partnership and the opportunities it holds for the future.

Saferworld works with local partners at the local, national and international level to help contribute to long-term sustainable change. We have been working with BRAC for several years to help communities develop innovative ways to tackle safety and security issues.

This four year project will introduce and mainstream the community security approach into BRAC’s community empowerment programs, improving the security conditions for reconstruction and development in Bangladesh. Following work in an initial pilot we are replicating the project across 16 sites in five districts of south-western Bangladesh. Saferworld and BRAC will work both with communities to identify their security needs, and with those who are best placed to respond to them, including local authorities and development actors.
