Community security in Myanmar cartoon booklet

Security is a core part of human well-being. However, in many countries affected by armed conflict, communities experience insecurity in their daily lives. This set of cartoons illustrates Saferworld's community security approach in practice in Myanmar.

Community security is about addressing insecurities as experienced by communities. It aims to improve the relationships between communities, authorities and institutions by providing opportunities for community members to identify and prioritise their safety concerns and address them in a collaborative manner.

This set of cartoons, developed for audiences in Myanmar, is based on Saferworld’s community security handbook, which is available in Burmese and English. This booklet is intended to help explain the theory and practice of community security for community members, civil society actors and local authorities (state and non-state).
